Kathryn Ellis Hossley, 79, passed away peacefully among family members and her caregiver, at her home in Mobile on Monday, August 26, 2024. Mimsy, as she was known by her family and friends, was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Kathryn Ellis. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph E. Hossley, her children, Kathryn Irby (John) of Mobile, Al Deane (Nancy) of Mobile, and Richard Hossley (Macon) of Greenwood, Arkansas, her stepsons, Adam Hossley (Margaret) of Mobile and Robert Hossley, also of Mobile, and her wonderful grandchildren, Jackson Irby, Logan Deane, Baylor, Benton, Carter, and Kelly Kate Hossley, and Elizabeth Hossley. She is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Ellis Colbert (Luke) of Annapolis, Maryland, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mimsy was a graduate of Murphy High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. After college, she raised her children and volunteered at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, serving on the Altar Guild, Flower Guild, and with the Choir. She was an avid reader, loved her family, her garden, and enjoyed socializing with her friends.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 31st, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Road, Mobile. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, 351 Dilston Street, Mobile.
