Ms. Kitty
Born July 28th, 1925 to Ollie Godwin and Bessie Clarke Godwin, Kathleen Zenobia Rice, left this earth to be with our Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Monday April 12th , 2021. Lovingly known as “Ms. Kitty”, she was a life-long resident of Mobile, AL and one of the 7 Godwin children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Rice; her parents, Ollie and Bessie Godwin; her brothers, Wallace (Bubba) and Jacob Godwin; her sisters, Frances de Sales (Day) McBride and Josephine McNeil; and an infant sibling along with three of her four children, Buddy Parker, Kathy Adams, and Roger Parker.
She is survived by her sister, Corinne (Cookie) Darawich; her son, Michael Parker Sr.; her grandchildren, Harold Parker(Pat), Jeffery Parker (Lucy), Melissa “Lisa” Adams, Angel Parker, Deena Ray Parker (Eric), Joshua Parker(Michelle), Michael Parker Jr(Tiffany), Charlotte Parker (Riley), and Jeffrey Parker; her great grandchildren, Christina Dunnam, Samantha Dunnam, Shannon Parker, Colton Parker, Brendan Parker, Landon Ferrell, Brayden Saultz, Alaura Saultz, Lane Parker, and Bailey Parker; along with several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Kitty was a member of First Baptist Church of Tillman’s Corner. She was also a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 45 years. She joined the Fidelis Chapter on March 23, 1976, and later merged with the Hollinger’s Island Chapter #480. She worked and retired from AMS and became a bookkeeper and clerk at Mobile Greyhound Park where she worked until the age of 89. Ms. Kitty was loved and adored by her family and friends and will be remembered by the love, kindness, and generosity she gave to each of them. Along with the dedication, determination, and independence she instilled in those close to her.
Private services were held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Saturday April 24th, 2021 at 10am.
