Born in Ohio to traveling parents, spending her childhood and teenage years growing up in Fairhope and settling in Mobile with her husband Gary, Judy lived a life of care, of giving and of devotion to family and friends. After the passing of her husband, she raised two boys while working and graduated from nursing school. She worked in many fields including ICU, gastrointestinal, travel nursing and home health. She selflessly cared for her husband in his sickness before his passing and later for her mother before her passing. Never did her trials and tribulations in life make her waver in her love and helping hand for those in need whether they were family, friends, charities, church congregation or even a random stranger at times.
Judy's early exposure to, and love of travel, provided her with endless dreams and happiness. Among her favorites were London England, Vancouver. B.C., a grand tour of Italy, multiple family trips around the U.S. and possibly, above all, the many escapes to the mountains of North Carolina.
Judy's care and devotion to helping others was only surpassed by her love of friends, family, children and most importantly, her grandchildren.
Judy is preceded in death by her father Andrew Jackson (AJ) Turner, her mother Esther Manning Turner, her three brothers Donald Turner, Bob Turner and Jim Turner and her husband Gary DeWitt.
Judy is survived by her son Mark DeWitt and his fiancé Lucinda Freeman, her son Brian DeWitt and wife Sarah Davis DeWitt, grandchildren John Thomas Lackeos Smiley, Taylor Elaine DeWitt and Sawyer Elliott DeWitt, an ever loving group of cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and wide variety of "adopted" children.
