Juanita (Nita) Ramey Jordan, a native and life-long resident of Mobile, AL, died Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the age of 85. Nita was born June 5, 1931 to Francis Emmett and Bertha Mayo Ramey. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1948 and was then employed by Sears Roebuck. There she met her husband, Madison Jackson (Jack) Jordan, Jr, (who precedes her in death) marrying on August 20, 1949.
Nita was also employed as a bookkeeper for Dauphin Way United Methodist Church and as controller for the Sheraton Hotel. She was an avid painter, reader and lover of crossword puzzles. Nita was actively involved with the Mobile Chapter of Sweet Adelines, singing bass and serving many years as treasurer. She was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Kaye Jordan Cooper (Bob) of Mobile and sons, Francis Wayne Jordan (Paula) of Mobile and James Madison Jordan (Sherrie) of Cincinnati, OH; brother William Peterson Ramey of Houston, TX and sisters Patricia Ramey Sutliff of Albany, NY and Barbara Ramey Spiers of Louisville, KY; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends. Her NeNe spaghetti and Dadaw soup will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Radney Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10 AM from the Chapel of the Radney Funeral Home.
