Mrs. Josephine Tedder Barnes – a native of the McCall Community near Flomaton, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL since 1945, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 in a local health care facility. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Fulton Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. During World War II she was a “Rosie Riveter” at Brookley Air Force Base. In 1951, she married Lewis B. Barnes and was a stay at home wife and mother until 1975 when she re-entered the workforce. She retired from the Bay Area Food Bank in 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers; her husband, Lewis B. Barnes; and her son-in-law, George “Bubba” Helton. She is survived by two children, Macy Helton and Tim (Cathy) Barnes; three brothers, Sam, Wilkie and Julian Tedder; nieces, nephews, and a large loving family. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday at Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bay Area Food Bank.
