Joseph Bernard Richardson was born on February 20, 1953 to his parents Clifford and Minnie Richardson in Prichard, Alabama. He was born and reared in the family homestead affectionately called "The Bottom" and was the youngest of six siblings. During his early years, Joseph was a happy boy and was lovingly called "Joe Joe" by his family. Joseph accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age at Pine Grove A.M.E. Church. His faith walk included many years of Sunday School and long Sunday services.
Joseph received his early education at Ella Grant Elementary School and Booker T. Washington Jr. High School respectively. He graduated from Toulminville High School where he played football for the Rattlers. It was at Toulminville that he met his wife Mildred. Joseph and Mildred were married for 52 1/2 years and have four children together, one daughter and three sons.
Joseph was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, son ,brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, and cousin in a very large extended family. He loved to joke and tell funny stories, especially his memories about his growing up years in "the bottom" and the neighborhood. Joseph loved his wife and children and cherished their family time together. He loved to go fishing with his wife, Mildred, and enjoyed watching movies and sports with his children. Joseph worked hard to provide for his family and retired from Teledyne Continental Motors after working for 30 years.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Mildred Richardson; devoted children Carlos Richardson, Iris(Ryan) Williams, Joseph(Kenya) Richardson, Jr., and John Richardson; two grandsons, Jayden Richardson and Elijah Williams. He is also survived by his sisters Olivette(Edward) Taylor of Mobile, AL, Annette Reeves of Mobile, AL, Helen(Lary) Thomas of Inglewood, CA, and one brother, Warrington(Cornelia)Richardson of Montgomery, AL; two sisters-in-law Jean(Arthur) Cabbill and Claudia Barnes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
