John Daniel Wheeler, 75, passed away on November 22, 2022 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. John was born on August 10, 1947 to the late Daniel Webster Wheeler and Ora Azline Musgrove Wheeler in Mobile, Alabama. He spent his working career as a building contractor and pipe-fitter. Some of John’s favorite past-times were spent hunting, vacationing, gardening, playing golf, and spending time with family. He was a wonderful husband and always enjoyed loving on his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
Mr. Wheeler was preceded in passing by his parents; one sister; Dorothy Louis Wheeler, one brother; Frank William Wheeler (Billy), and one son; Robert Barnes.
Left to cherish John’s wonderful memories will be his beloved wife Evelyn Combs Wheeler, daughter; Robin Wheeler Baxter and husband Troy Darrell Baxter, son; John Daniel Wheeler Jr. “Little Buck” and wife Mary Wheeler, daughter; Carmen Miller and husband Joe Ray Miller, son; Vince Edward Wheeler, three sisters: Margie Lou Wheeler Sheppard, Catherine Marie Wheeler Soutullo, Patricia Francis Wheeler Miller, three brothers: Earl Wheeler, Daniel Webster Wheeler Jr. “Dan”, Sim Boy Wheeler, eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Honoring John as pallbearers will be: Benjamin Wayne Loper, Aaron Miller, Daniel Wheeler, Willie Wheeler, Mark Sheppard, Earl “Bo” Wheeler Jr., Pat Sheppard, John Soutullo, and Matthew Miller.
We would like to express our gratitude to the members of the church that came to the hospital, his children, and his grandchildren for their friendships, love, prayers, care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held from the church of the Lord's Disciples on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
Memorials may be made in honor of John Daniel Wheeler to the Church of the Lord’s Disciples, 11095 Catherine Creek Drive, Mobile, Alabama 36608.
Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Pierce Creek Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.
