John Robert Taylor, age 91, of Mobile, AL, passed away on August 2, 2016. He was born in West Enterprise, MS on January 4, 1925 and was the son of John Edward Taylor and Mary Magdalene King. Mr. Taylor served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Upon leaving the military he moved to Mobile, AL and began a twenty-five year civil service career at Brookley Air Force Base. Following his civil service, he worked for the City of Mobile Jail, retiring as Warden in 1982. John Taylor is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Dorothy Taylor Greer and husband Bill, his brother Lee Edward Taylor and wife Pauline, his first wife, Mary Alice Gardner and second wife Edith Hollingshead Taylor. He is survived by his son from his first marriage, Robert Kerry Taylor (Linda) of Albany, GA. He is survived by his three children from his second marriage, Robert Wayne Taylor (Jeanette) of Mobile, AL; John Cleveland Taylor of Atlanta, GA; and Brenda Joyce Ryals (Jim) of Irvington, AL. He is survived by his current wife, Betty Childs Taylor and step-son, Randy Childs of Mobile, Al. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy.
