John Michael Sloke Sr., died at his home on December 31, 2024. He was born on December 7, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia (Fort Benning). A resident of Mobile, John was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sloke; his mother, Dorothy Sloke; and his brother, Carl Sloke. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Angela Sloke; son, John Michael Sloke Jr.; a sister, Toni Sloke (Tracy); brothers, Mark Sloke (Marti) and Paul Sloke (Sandy, deceased); nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members and friends. John was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. John received his degree in Business Administration from Florida-Atlantic University. He was a former FBI Agent serving in Miami, Florida; Mobile, Alabama; and New York City, New York. John served the South Alabama Chapter of Former Agents Society as secretary-treasurer for many years. He owned and operated Sloke Investigations. John was a Vietnam War veteran. He was awarded a Purple Heart, a Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals of valor during his service. He was a dedicated member of the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile where he was an altar server, member of the finance committee, and caretaker of the Cathedral gardens. John was an enthusiastic fisherman and loved fishing with his family and friends. John had many other hobbies. He enjoyed writing, home projects, and working in his yard. John will be greatly missed by his family, his cat Dixie, and many friends.
Visitation will be held at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 2 South Claiborne St. Mobile, Alabama on January 6, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 with a funeral Mass at 10:00 and interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Road Mobile, Alabama. Following the burial, there will be a reception at the Portier House, 307 Conti Street, Mobile, Alabama at the corner across from the Cathedral.
