John Dean Risner – age 87, died at his home in Semmes, AL on February 11, 2011. He was a native of Pikeville, KY, a proud veteran of WWII, a long time member of St. Monica and Holy Name of Jesus parishes, and retired from GM&O/ICG Railroad. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Margaret Hoffman Risner and his wife of 17 years, Natalie Doody Risner. His family was his heart and his life. John is survived by eight children, Diane Risner, Ronnie Risner (Judy), John T. Risner (Debbie), Charlotte R. Rodgers, Pam Johnson (Joe), Judy Curtis (Jackie), Paul Risner (Amy), and Sherry Wiese (Stephen); sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends. The family acknowledges their great appreciation to the caregivers and in particular Amanda Roberts. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. from Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to Mass. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
