Mr. Anderson was known as Edward or "Ed" to his family, and as John or "Mr. John" to coworkers and friends. He was a rare individual who never got on anyone's nerves and who always tried to do the right thing the right way.
This fine man was preceded in death by his parents, John Albert and Blanche Anderson, his older brother, Dwayne Anderson, and his son-in-law, Mark Swanson. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rita Walker Anderson; three children, Nyla Steadman of Pensacola, Florida, Jennifer Swanson, of Mobile, Alabama, and John S. (Erna) Anderson of Powder Springs, Georgia; younger brother Gene (Joyce) Anderson of Fortuna, Missouri; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two carport cats.
Mr. Anderson was laid to rest on March 22, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at a small graveside service in Pine Crest West Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama. Andrew Tewell from Lighthouse Baptist Church in Theodore, Alabama opened the service sharing memories of their personal friendship. Brother Tewell then led the mourners in a few verses of Amazing Grace, read a sweet personal thank you note from Nyla to her Daddy, and closed the service with prayer.
