Mr. Dean served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam Era. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force NCO Professional Development Ribbon and the Missile Man Badge. He retired after 38 years of service with Alabama Power Company.
Jim Dean, was the most helpful, compassionate man to everyone he encountered. He loved to serve the Lord in any way he could as an active member of First Baptist Church Tillman's Corner. He loved spending time with family and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, knife making and working in the garden with his wife. If there ever was anything he was passionate about, it was being the most perfect husband, dad and papa. He spent most of his time with family, or creating things in his shop. Jim was a strong believer in God and regularly shared the gospel with others. He was also very proud of his country and his military service. He will be greatly missed for his compassion and humor. To know him was to love him!
Jim is survived by his wife of forty years, Pamela Coley Dean and children; April Isler Tolbert (husband Paul Tolbert), Shannon Cheri Lloyd and Jessica Dean Collins (husband Clifton Collins). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Mandi Nicole Isler, Mylissa Eileen Lloyd, Stephen Paul Tolbert, Caleb Christopher Tolbert, Noah Hamilton Tolbert, Koleigh Mae Collins and John Oliver Collins, great-grandchild, Harper Elise Cooley, siblings; John B. Dean (Kathy) and family, and Brenda Sheppard (Robert) and family.
