Jean was a lifelong member of Little Flower Catholic Church, and a graduate of Little Flower Catholic School, McGill-Toolen Catholic High School, and the University of South Alabama, where he majored in accounting.
Jean was employed with Mobile Bay Harley Davidson for many years as Controller and ended his professional career as an Accounting Supervisor with Crow, Shields, Bailey, P.C. As a leader, Jean was revered for his hard work and dependability, his strategic problem-solving skills, leadership and team-building skills, and being someone whom working with was a joy.
Growing up, Jean became a black belt in karate, loved playing soccer, swimming, playing with and teasing his five siblings and caring for his younger siblings. Jean loved the beach, road trips with his family, Auburn football, great music, gardening, cooking, his two dogs, and especially spending time with his wife Mary and their sons Adam and Nick. Jean will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor, and most importantly for his great love of his family.
Jean was preceded in death by his father, Henri Amin Rathle, M.D. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Holland Rathle; two sons, Adam Jean Nelson Rathle and Nicholas Gabriel Rathle; his mother, Carol Aubuchon Rathle; five siblings including three brothers, Henri Michael Rathle (Marlene); Amin James Rathle (Cindy), and Andre Gerard Rathle (Cindy) and two sisters, Marcelle Rathle Naman (Edmond) and Carole Rathle Grant (Travis); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jean’s nephews, Henri Rathle, Grainger Rathle, Michael Rathle, Joseph Bernard, Christopher Holland, and Jon Parker Holland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Little Flower Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by the eulogy. The Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. Little Flower Catholic Church is located at 2053 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36606. Interment will be held at Pond Creek Cemetery, located at Shiloh Road, Deer Park AL 36584.
In lieu of flowers, Jean’s family asks that donations be made in his memory to Friends of Mobile Animal Shelter at 855 Owens Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604, or Little Flower Catholic Church, 2053 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36606.
