Mrs. Jean Jumonville Gaston, native of Mobile, AL, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Mrs. Gaston is preceded in death by her parents, George Benedict and Mary Gardiner Jumonville and grandmother, Lucille Jumonville. Jean was a member of Shaw High School’s first graduating class and attended the University of South Alabama. She was a longtime faithful member of Springhill Baptist Church, where she served on staff for over 20 years. She met Victor, her loving husband of 46 years while both were serving on the Dauphin Way Baptist Church Bus Ministry. She was credited in playing a major role in her husband’s public service career. She was also involved in the George H. W. Bush Presidential Campaign in 1988. Mrs. Gaston is survived by her husband of 46 years, Henry Victor Gaston and children; Henry “Hank” Victor Gaston, Jr. (Laura) and George Carroll Gaston (Tawnya). She is also survived by her brother, George Jumonville (Pat), sister, Pat Blanchard (Steve), sister-in-law, Jan Gaston Strickland and grandchildren; James, Jason, Noah, Matthew, Charlie, and Cameron Gaston. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2019 at Springhill Baptist Church, 2 McGregor Avenue. A memorial service will be held in the church at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Pine Crest West Cemetery.
