Janice Malone Botts, age 86, passed away on September 21, 2013. She was a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL and a faithful member of the Episcopal Church. Janice was a former member of the Azalea City Women’s Club, The Civic Roundtable, President of a Mystic Organization and a member of several others. Her devotion to her children led her to being everything from room mother and chauffeur for field trips to playing fortune teller at a fall festival. She served as an advisor and sorority Mother for the ADK high school sorority and successfully represented the high school Panhellenic Council at School Board meetings seeking to abolish the sororities and fraternities. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Newton and Stella Malone and daughter, Joan Marie Botts. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, James (Jim) B. Botts; children, Janice (Gene) Lindsey, James (Laura) Botts, Jr., and Judson Malone Botts; brother, James (Mary) Malone and sister, Judy (Bill) Jensen; Grandchildren: Brandi Lindsey, Brian (Michelle) Lindsey, and Jonathan (Avie) Lindsey, Meredith Botts (Josh) Jordan, Amanda, Palmer, Parker and Jane-Marie Botts and Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth LaRene’, Dylan, Colton, Jay and Jackson Lindsey and Miles Jordan and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were G. Brian Lindsey, Jonathan E. Lindsey, Judson Palmer Botts, James Parker Botts, James W. Malone, Jr. and Mark E. Malone. Honorary pallbearers were the G.G.’s, also known as the Giggling Grannies, her much loved Murphy High School friends: Bobbie Leamaster Eddins, Margie Cook Hawkins, Maida Toenes Clarke, Frances Diamond Heath and Mitzi Steadham Boardman. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Atria Regency and Southern Care Hospice for their loving care; especially the nurses and caregivers at Atria, including her BFF’s Deborah and Gwendolyn. Funeral services were held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on September 24, 2013.
