Janice Patricia “Pat” Allen, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, after a courageous 41-year battle with COPD. Pat was born to George and Callie Mae Money on November 12, 1937, in Troy, Alabama. Although from Troy, Pat spent most of her life in Mobile. She graduated from Murphy High School, Class of 1956. Pat enjoyed horseback riding in high school. She also got to experience the thrill of riding in a few of Mobile’s Mardi Gras parades. Pat was also a member of the American Legion Ralph Ellis Post 250 Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Allen; and two sisters, Margaret Tetley and Eulene Gafford.
She is survived by her two sons, James Thorpe (Angela) and Jerry Thorpe (Beth); two grandsons, Michael Thorpe (Angela) and Samuel Thorpe; two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Maridia; a brother, Jerry Money (Barbara); three very precious nieces who Pat looked at more as sisters, Lynda Deese, Donna Thomerson, and Evelyn Lambert; as well as other nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery.
