Jane E. (Mulligan) Mahoney, a native of Westford, Massachusetts and a longtime resident of Mobile, died peacefully on August 12, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George R. Mahoney Captain, USN (retired); parents, James and Lenora Mulligan; a sister, Sheila Rugo; and three brothers, Frances Mulligan, James Mulligan and John Mulligan. She is survived by a sister, Eleanora Bohenko of Portsmouth, NH; sister, Ann Vullo or Westford, MA, a brother Patrick Mulligan of Leyden, MA and sister, Patricia Holmes of Westford, MA. She leaves six children; Jane E. MacInnis of Baltimore, MD; Captain Leon F. Mahoney, USN (retired) (Pamela Jane) of Virginia Beach, VA; Margaret M. Adams (Emidio Del Conte) of San Diego, CA; Commander John P. Mahoney, USN (retired) of Detroit, MI; Commander Timothy J. Mahoney, USNR (retired) (Sheila) of Mobile, AL and Moira C. Finear (David) of Corona del Mar, CA. Jane is also survived by 13 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Jane was a member of Corpus Christi Church for over 40 years where she served in numerous voluntary capacities and faithfully attended daily mass for over 30 years. She had been active with several organizations, serving as President of the Board for both St. Mary’s Home and the Cosmopolitan Women’s Club. She was a multi-term treasurer for Mobile Duplicate Bridge Club and the Ladies of Charity. She was an active participant in the Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) for several years and also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Providence Hospital. She was also a former member of several Mystic Societies. Despite all of her volunteer duties, her greatest pride and accomplishment was being a military wife and simultaneously raising six children. There will be a visitation at Radney Funeral Home at 3155 Dauphin Street in Mobile (36606) on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6300 McKenna Drive in Mobile (36609) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road in Tillman’s Corner.
