James A. Rohmer, Sr. - age 92, a World War II veteran of the United States Army and lifelong resident of Mobile, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013. James retired from civil service in 1981 after a long a successful career working with both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. For the past 32 years, he has been enjoying his first love, horticulture and the nursery business. Over those 32 years, he single handedly built the family business, Southern Camellia Gardens, into a very successful and profitable venture which he operated until only very recently. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara Rohmer; son, James Rohmer, Jr. (Sherry), of Saraland AL; daughters, Cynthia Rohmer of Mobile and Madeline Lezama (Tony) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Michael “Jason” Rohmer and Wyndi Rohmer both of Saraland; brother, Harry Rohmer of Mobile; and sister, Mary White of Mobile. A memorial service will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
