James Winslow Green, M.D., native of Paducah, Kentucky, born March 25, 1936, died January 12, 2013. Dr. Green is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Marks Green; children, Margaret Christopher Green, Bradford Winslow Green, Elisabeth Andrews Green; grandchildren, Kathleen Marie Mathers, William Andrews Mathers, Jeremiah Winslow Green, Alexander Winslow Green; sister, Marion Green Bolks; and sister-in-law, Jane Andrews Marks. Dr. Green graduated from Vanderbilt University undergraduate and medical schools; did his surgical training there and at the University of Miami. He practiced plastic and reconstructive surgery in Mobile for 37 years. He was an avid tennis player, golfer, Saints fan, and astronomy buff; an active member of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and the Dog River Clearwater Revival. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church, Mobile, and a longtime choir member. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Wednesday, January 16, at noon. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Foundation of First Baptist Church, 806 Government Street, Mobile AL 36602.
