Rev. James Edward Gabel, lifetime resident of Mobile transformed from this life to his heavenly home on Friday, March 17, 2023 at a local hospital. Jim started his Railroad career with the GM&O Railroad and went through several mergers in his 53 years as an Engineer. Jim served as a Chaplain of the Mobile Police Department, and as a volunteer at Community Hospice. He was ordained in Compassionate Ministries and served in many capacities throughout his life. Jim served in the Army National Guard for six years, he loved our Country and had such a great love for people, but his greatest love and allegiance was to our Lord and Savior. What a life and what a great legacy he leaves behind.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward Gabel and mother, Kate McLeod Gabel. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Price-Williams Gabel, cousin, Barbara Johnson Wood and her husband Harold, brother-in-law Thornton Price-Williams and wife Angie, sister-in-law Sandra Bradley and husband John, sister-in-law Donna Price-Williams, lifelong friends, Kevin and Wanda Owens and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held from First Church of the Nazarene located at 669 Azalea Road, Mobile, AL on Saturday, March 25, 2023 beginning at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends and family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
