James William Corley – an 80 year-old native of Eight Mile, AL and a resident of Mobile passed away Friday, July 1, 2011. He retired from National Food Stores after 30 years of service after which he owned and operated Corley’s Country Store for 10 years. Mr. Corley was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army, a member of Luke 4:18 Fellowship, and was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Richard and Rosetta Crabtree Corley; sister, Janette Landry; and brothers, Steve Corley and Gordon Corley. Mr. Corley is survived by his wife of 62 years, Miladean Strickland Corley; children: Cynthia Smiley (Buddy), Philip Corley, Jason Corley (Shannon), and Todd Corley (Reta); brother, Leonard “Bud” Corley (Helen); 10 grandchildren: Valerie Jackson (Billy), Eric Smiley, Jonathan Smiley (Beth), Mark Smiley, Chris Corley (Natalie), Chad Corley (Heather), Hannah Corley, Garrett Corley, Justin Corley, and Luke Corley; four great-grandchildren: Kayla Richardson, Lindsey and Faith Jackson, and Caden Corley; two great, great-grandchildren, Logan and Adalyn Richardson; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 5, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery West.
