James Gregory Barto, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 5, 2023 in Mobile, Alabama. He was born to Harold and Josephine Barto in Columbus, Ohio on March 26, 1955. To James, fishing was the love of his life. Anyone who was a fisherman would always call and ask for advice or fishing reports. He was a fan of classic cars and trucks, and speed boats. James never met a stranger, and had a ton of friends. He loved all of his nieces and nephews dearly, and was blessed to get to have his two special great-nephews, Logan and Tripp Kynes stay with him throughout the week. James was an amazing brother, uncle, and friend, and will be greatly missed.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Barto and Terry Barto; and one niece, Vicki Kynes.
He is survived by his only sister, Susan Kynes; two brothers, Robert Barto and Chris Barto; nephews, Ronny Kynes, Dylan Barto, Ben Barto, Keith Barto, and Paul Barto; nieces, Terinda Ancon, Julie Barto, and Robin Barto; ten great-nephews and great-nieces; special friends: Steve Cochran, Dennis Langan, Michael Langan, Bill Pierre, David Harvey, David Highland, and Bobby Manders; as well as other family and friends.
Visitation for James will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
