Dr. Jack Hutchinson Thompson, age 75, native of Mobile, AL, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Dr. Thompson, was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Roosevelt and Minnie Lee Jackson Thompson, his brother Roland Dee Thompson, his sister Mollie Ann Thompson, and his nephew Matthew Dee Thompson. He graduated from Vigor High School and Marion Military Institute, playing football at both schools. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama Medical College (UAB) in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Thompson was a physician (pediatrician) in Saraland for over 40 years and served his country honorable in the United States Air Force. He served as a board member for the Crittenton Youth Center in Mobile. Dr. Thompson was a devoted physician, loving husband, father, grandfather and Christian. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and an Alabama football fan. He was incredibly patient, lighthearted, kind, caring, and enjoyed life. He is remembered by his many patients for his compassion, empathy and humility. Dr. Thompson is survived by his loving wife of over 54 years, Suzanne Sutton Thompson, his sons Jack “Hutch” Thompson Jr, “Leigh”, and Eric Thompson, his brother Dr. Ervin Thompson, “Toni”, Grandsons, Jack H. Thompson III and Matthew R. Thompson, and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Whistler Cemetery.
