Jack Larry Bishop Sr.

Aug. 1, 1934 - June 29, 2014 Jack Larry Bishop, Sr. – a 79 year-old native of Tampa, FL and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014. Mr. Bishop moved to Mobile while working for Jack's Cookie Company. He later began driving for the Mobile City Bus Lines before going to work for AWI Offshore from which he retired as a foreman after 25 years of service. He was a member of Theodore Church of God and was an avid fisherman, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wanza Brooks Bishop. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty Hodges Bishop; sons, Jack Larry Bishop, Jr. (Ellie) and John Samuel Bishop, III (Gayle); grandchildren, Jack Larry Bishop, III (Courtney), Lauren Speirs (Colin), Cindy Bishop, and Olivia Bishop; great-grandchildren, Keller Bishop, Connor Bishop, Parker Bishop, and Sadie Speirs; sisters, Linda Dorum (Herman) and Betty Peters (Dana); other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
