Jack Wayne Barrett, 83, of Tanner Williams, Alabama, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017. Born in Selma, Alabama to James and Minnie Barrett. Right out of high school, Jack made the decision to join the military and spent the next 26 years defending his country. At retirement, he was classified as a Senior Master Sargent. Jack was a very passionate man who enjoyed military life, along with his bride of 62 years. After retirement from the Air Force, Jack went to work again for a Telecommunications company. He spent 18 years there, starting as a Technician and retired as an Operations Manager. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed working in his workshop, full of many personalized tools - that contained welded initials on the side of each one. He also spent many hours checking off his honey do list, assigned by his wife. He took pride in every single thing he did. Jack was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers along with other family members. He will be forever remembered by his wife, Annie Louise Barrett and their children, Jack Wayne Barrett II, Wanda Barrett Saunier (Greg), Beverly Barrett Ratliff (John). His grandchildren Arriell Saunier Anderson (Paul), Danielle Saunier, Connor Ratliff and Carson Ratliff. And his great-grandchildren; Madalyn Saunier and Charlotte Anderson. Jack is also survived by his older brother, Clarence “Bill” Barrett. He will also be forever remembered by his numerous extended family and dear friends. A special thank you to Dr. Reeves Dill and his staff with Covenant Hospice of Mobile, for taking such wonderful care of Jack and his family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Trinity Baptist Church, 13685 Tanner Williams Rd, Wilmer, Alabama 36587, with the viewing at 1:00 pm and funeral at 2:00 pm. The burial will follow at Pine Crest West cemetery at 1599 Snow Rd, Mobile, AL 36695. Funeral arrangements by Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin St., Mobile, Alabama.
