Hoyt was born January 3, 1929, in the small farming community of McCullough, Alabama to Allen Edlow and Dottie Mack where he was raised along with three brothers and one sister.
On April 10, 1946 he married the love of his life, Grace Hazel Coon. Hoyt was baptized at Brownsville Baptist Church in Pensacola Florida and attended Corinth Primitive Baptist Church, McCullough Alabama, for over 50 years.
In 1955 Hoyt and Grace welcomed their only child, Steve, into the world and moved their new little family to Mobile, Alabama which is where they spent the entirety of their amazing 62-year years of marriage.
Hoyt enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career as manager and executive for Sinclair Valentine Inc., specializing in manufacturing and sales of printing inks and chemicals and continued his success through subsequent company mergers until his retirement in 1993.
Hoyt found joy in the simple things in life. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and spending time with precious family. He and his wife Grace spent many wonderful hours fishing the rivers and lakes of Escambia, Baldwin and Mobile Counties.
In his post-retirement years Hoyt supervised, advised and pondered the complexities of life from the seat of his command post atop any one of his zero-turn lawn mowers. Morning coffee was a must as he set about his daily visits with friends and his love of family was endearing and never-ending. Hoyt cherished his close bond with son Steve and grandsons Phillip and Garrett Mack, as they were most dear to his heart.
Hoyt is preceded in death by his parents; Allen Edlow Mack and Dottie Lee Stacy, brothers Leon Mack, (Mildred), Ennis Mack, (Margaret), and Ray Mack. He is survived by his son, Steve Mack, (Rose Mary), grandchildren Phillip Mack, Garrett Mack, his sister Faye Manning, along with a large extended family, numerous nieces, nephews and longtime family friend and caregiver Wilhelmina Moffett.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 11am to 1pm at Pine Crest Cemetary and Funeral Home in Mobile.
