George Wilfred Edgar

George Wilfred Edgar, age 93, died on Monday, December 18, 2017 in Mobile, AL, where he was a 3rd generation Mobilian. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edna Brown and Wilfred Ewart Edgar. George graduated from Murphy High School and enlisted in the Air Force where he served in the Far East. Upon return from WWII, he graduated from Spring Hill College with a B.S. of Commerce in Accounting in 1948. George worked as an accountant for several industrial companies before landing his destiny job as Clerk of the District Court - Mobile County. After several decades of service, he retired in 1995 with supernumerary status. He was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Mobile and Saint Francis Episcopal Church on Dauphin Island. George was an active member of several mystic societies and an avid Alabama football fan.

George is lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Smart Edgar. He is also survived by his children; George Hugh Edgar, Marjorie Leigh Edgar, daughter-in-law, Deborah Price Edgar, his two grandchildren; Michael Hugh Edgar, and David Robert Edgar. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered in George's memory to Trinity Episcopal Church, 1900 Dauphin St., Mobile Al.
