

Francis Joseph Hartley, Sr., age 88, was born on September 28, 1924 in Mobile, AL to Jacob and Therese Hartley and he died on November 14, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Biloxi. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rita Vautier Hartley; his children Francis Joseph Hartley, Jr. (Joe) of Mobile, AL, Carol Hartley Weido (Mark) of Brookshire, TX, and Deborah Hartley Danner (Garin) of Mobile, AL; 7 grandchildren – Joseph Paul Hartley, Cheree Hartley Bosarge, Robert Todd Ford, Kristin Ford Isaacks, Jennifer Danner Rowe, Hope Danner Vicknair and Lesley Suzanne Hartley, 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, a niece and friends. He was preceded in death by his 4 brothers – William Norton Hartley, Sr., Charles Hubert Hartley, James Edward Hartley, Jacob Paul Hartley, 2 sisters – Adelaide Hartley Murray and Claudia Hartley Locke. He graduated from McGill Institute on June 1, 1947. He retired after 20 years from the Alabama State Docks. He also worked for many years at May Plumbing Supply. He served his country in the Phillipines during World War II with the US Army. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 666. He enjoyed being an active member of the Crewe of Columbus Mardi Gras Organization for many years. Active Pallbearers are Joseph Paul Hartley, Robert Todd Ford, Michael Jay Rowe, Joel Thomas Isaacks, Michael Casey Dean and Douglas Shawn Bosarge. Honorary Pallbearers are Marion F. Hartley, Paul D. Murray, Thomas Murray, Jim Hartley, Danny Hartley, Terry Hartley, Orin D. Wood, Aubrey Pippin and Scott P. Vicknair. Services will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church on Government St. on Monday, November 19, 2012. The family will receive friends starting at 9:00am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
