Forrest Crowell Wilson, Jr., born March 17, 1936, passed away November 1, 2022 at the age of 86 surrounded by family. Forrest was born in Mobile, AL, graduated from University Military School in 1954 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Alabama in 1958. He and his father owned Forrest Wilson Monuments, Inc. in Mobile, AL, where Forrest worked until retirement in 1999. Forrest’s talent was his beautiful bass-baritone singing voice. His mother often told him that his talent was a gift from God and, as such, should be returned to God. He sang for many weddings, performed church solos, sang with Mobile Opera for 45 years, and played the leading role in Kiss Me Kate, the Joe Jefferson Players’ first musical. He also sang oratorios with various churches around the state.
Forrest was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Crowell Wilson, Sr., his mother Gladys Coleman Wilson, and his step-mother Helen Coffin Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Ann Quarles Wilson, his children Forrest Crowell Wilson III (Sally), Mark Eugene Wilson (Denise), Amy Wilson Teten (Brett), his sister Marolyn Wilson Rounsaville (Fred), step-sister Beth Pollard Kinsaul (David), grandchildren Haley Wilson Goodman (Parker), Ebie Wilson Forwood (Patrick), Walker Eugene Wilson, Brady Crowell Wilson, Nolan Richard Teten, and Avery Catherine Teten, great-grandchildren Charles Wilson Goodman and William Parker Goodman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private, graveside service for family will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the music program at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, or Mobile Opera, Inc.
