Finola Hollece Thames “Faye” was born January 19, 1937 to Elizabeth Kelly and Rev. John Arthur Thames. She departed this life surrounded by family on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at her home. Faye accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Freemanville, AL and later became a Catholic at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Faye graduated Escambia County Training School in 1953 at age 16. Her work history began at Courtaulds and she later retired from Scott Paper Company.
Faye Thames married Lawson Harvey and to this union was born two daughters, Angela Denise Harvey and Sonya Lausina Harvey. Years later, after she divorced, she gave birth to her youngest daughter, Tracey Nicole Harvey.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Thames; and her middle daughter, Sonya Harvey.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two devoted daughters, Angela and Tracey; three devoted grandchildren, Shacareion Hollece Thomas, Zachary Ryan Anderson, and Tylor Nicolas Rankin “Spud”; five great-grandchildren, Shakel, Johnathan, Shakayla, Jorden and Jaden, an one special great-great grandchild, Kingsley. She leaves one brother, John (Loretta) Thames; two sisters, Marsha English and Mamie Gantt; and a host of relatives, friends, and the “Doyle Avenue family”.
Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a Memorial Service immediately following.
