A proud U.S. Navy Veteran, Everett went on to build a successful career with Morrisons, Incorporated as Executive V.P. and served on the Board of Directors. In 1986, after nearly three decades with Morrisons, Everett transitioned into entrepreneurship and eventually opened his own restaurant, Neighbors Seafood & Chicken in Saraland. He remained active in the restaurant business until his retirement in 2005.
Everett was an avid golfer, spending countless Saturdays on the golf course, enjoying the company of good friends while playing the game he loved. Off the golf course, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, sharing stories and keeping everyone laughing with his dry and witty sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 42 years, Gloria Mills; his daughter, Stefanie (Chris) Dunning; stepdaughters, Donna (Tony) Frisard and Kristine Clark; grandchildren, Kennedy Dunning, Nicholas Mills, Katelyn Mills, Jacob Jackson; great-granddaughter, Lilly Jackson; and sister, Gwendolyn Allbritton. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Everett was preceded in death by his father, Everett Merton Mills; mother, Mary "Mae" Mills; stepmother, Genevieve Mills; and brother, Raymond Mills.
A man of integrity and warmth, Everett touched many lives through both his personal and professional endeavors. His legacy lives on through the love he shared and the memories he created. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
A service to honor Everett will be held at Christ United Church, 6101 Grelot Road, Mobile, AL 36609 on Monday, April 28th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.
