Evelyn Blanche Bonneau Payne – a native of Dauphin Island, AL and lifelong resident of Mobile passed away peacefully at home following a long illness. She retired from the Mobile County Public School System. Mrs. Payne was an avid bowler and collector of antique dolls. She was a co-founder of the Special Needs Athletes Programs (SNAP) and coordinated various bowling programs for the Special Olympics and its athletes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman L. Payne; father, John H. Bonneau, Sr.; sister, Mary B. Payne; and brother, John H. Bonneau, Jr. Mrs. Payne is survived by three children, James Walter White, Jr., Karen White Koncar (Jerry), and Brandie Diane White; mother, Anna Margaret Hobbs; sisters, Ellen Bonneau Cox (Charles) and Faye Hobbs Ennis (Jeff); brother, Horace Edward Hobbs, Jr. (Carol); two grandchildren, Katherine Mary Genevieve Koncar and James Francis Koncar; her dogs, “Bella” and “Windsor”; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 14, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
