Esther Fay Wagner Breneman, age 80, of Irvington, AL passed away peacefully on June 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank August Joseph Wagner and Etta Mae Williams Wagner, and her husband, Raymond C. Breneman. Esther is survived by her two loving children, Lance Raynard Breneman and Kimberly Rene Breneman and her granddaughter, Kallie Rose Breneman, as well as numerous cousins and relatives.
Esther grew up on a farm in Irvington, AL. She attended Theodore High School where she participated in 4H Club and raised her beloved cow, Dolly. In 1957, she graduated from The Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing. Esther was a nurse for sixty years. Esther was a loving vibrant woman who loved music, traveling, and volunteering at her church to the very end.
Esther’s son writes, “All we can figure is that the neighborhood called “Heaven” must have been slipping a bit because our momma and Nana was called there to raise the bar. Anytime anyone at her church received a congratulations or sympathy card, one could be assured that it would be written and addressed in her handwriting. Our momma worked endlessly for the good of her children and those around her. So from the time of her children’s birth until her very last breath, she sacrificed heroically behind the scenes to assure that her children and granddaughter were cared for at the highest level she could attain, doing without, so that they could have. And never did anyone know. She graduated from this earthly school called “How to Love” with highest honors and is making Heaven a richer place.”
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Esther’s church, Irvington United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 10, Irvington, AL 36544. The family asks that those attending services to wear brightly colored clothing to help celebrate Esther’s life. “We will always love you and miss you, Momma/Nana.
