Eric Fullerton Shreves sure was full of something. His passing on Sunday, March 6th, 2022 has left a profound emptiness for those lucky enough to have known him. For thirty-two years, he shared his energetic character with the community of Mobile, Alabama where he was born and lived his entire life.
The youngest son of Griffin Shreves, Jr. and Brenda Burnett Shreves, Eric managed to be the perfect child by filling his parents with love, pride, worry, happiness, exasperation, and every other emotion imaginable. His two older brothers – Griffin Shreves, III and Dr. Wyley Shreves – miss being a trio going on adventures and getting into mischief. They will forever miss the baby of the family.
Eric made countless friends as he attended St. Pius X School, Phillips Preparatory School, and graduated from Murphy High School. An accomplished athlete, he spent numerous hours running track and field, chasing a soccer ball, and swimming circles at Woodland Swim Club on summer days. Through both Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting, he tried to live up to the ideals, duty, and service they represent. As a testament to his character and commitment, Eric achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
After high school, Eric supported his country as an Air Force Reservist before earning a Bachelor’s in Business Management from the University of South Alabama. He contributed to his hometown by helping numerous businesses launch and achieve continued success.
Eric joins his grandfathers - Wyley Burnett and Griffin Shreves, Sr. - in completing his earthly journey. His grandmothers - Sybil Maulden Burnett and Joanne Armour Shreves - will miss spoiling him intensely. He leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends who are mourning his passing. Eric’s generosity, resourcefulness, and tinkering to make improvements in the lives of those around him will be sorely missed.
A gathering to celebrate Eric’s life has been scheduled for Saturday, March 12th, 2022 at 1pm at his longtime home in the Rosswood neighborhood. Because of his love for animals, the family encourages those wishing to honor and memorialize Eric’s passing to donate to the Mobile SPCA. https://www.mobilespca.org/donate/
