Ella Joyce Edmondson, 87 years of age, of Mobile, Alabama, was uplifted by Angels to be at peace with Our Gracious Lord, Wednesday, April 24, at 11:05 PM. Joyce, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, is survived by her twin sons, Grady Randall Edmondson and Ronald Anthony Edmondson, of Mobile, Alabama; also her youngest brother Louie Brown, of Pensacola, Florida. Joyce was the loving grandmother of Grady Hamilton Edmondson and Caroline Christoph Edmondson, both of Mobile, to whom she was with adoration known as "Ya-Ya". Joyce was born, November 5th, 1931, and raised in Pensacola by her mother, Grace Brown, and her father, George Brown. Her father immigrated from Skiathos, Greece, and was the master chef at B&B Restaurant on Palafox Street in Pensacola. Her mother, like Joyce, was a gracious soul loved and admired by many in her community. Upon graduation from Pensacola High School, Joyce attended the Providence School of Nursing, in Mobile, where she met her loving and lifelong husband, Grady Ronald Edmondson (CRNA). Ronnie passed away on August 10, 2017. Joyce was a highly distinguished Surgery Nurse (CRN) for 45 years at Providence Hospital, also where she finally passed on as her soul departed to Heaven. Joyce was known for her compassionate and loving nature toward patients and anyone she met. Her generosity to others was well known by many. Joyce was an inspiration to all fortunate to know her. A selfless wife, mother and grandmother, Joyce will ever be fondly remembered by her family.
Visitation for Joyce will be held at Radney Funeral Home, on Dauphin Street in Mobile, from 5-7 PM, Sunday, April 28th. A graveside service will honor her exemplary life at Pine Crest West Cemetery, on Snow Road in Mobile, Monday, April 29th, beginning 10 AM. All who knew and loved Joyce are invited to gather and lovingly bid her farewell.
