Elizabeth Murey Robbins

Murey Robbins, 43, of Birmingham, Alabama, died Saturday, June 25, 2022, in Pelham, Alabama, in a tragic motorcycle accident. Elizabeth Murey Wiseman was born on August 31, 1978, in Mobile, Alabama, to parents Melvin Barnett Wiseman, Jr. and Lucile Arnold Wiseman (Barry and Cindy).

From birth, Murey kept everyone on their toes. Her lively, determined, independent spirit was a gift to all who knew her. She loved deeply and fiercely. Above all else, Murey loved her family - her husband, son and four-legged companion, Little Bear, were most important. Murey was an adored wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. An avid reader and aspiring writer, she also loved to fish, garden and cook, but most often could be found just spending time with her husband, Doug. Murey attended college at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and obtained a degree in history. Learning was a lifelong pursuit of Murey’s in all subjects but math - often sporting her famous math shirt which read, “There are three types of people in this world, those that are good in math and those that are not !” However, Murey did find math quite useful in her cooking, as she was able to perfect ratios such as chili to cheese in her football snacks!

Murey met Doug in 2004 and after what they laughed about was the world’s longest first date, married shortly after in Costa Rica in 2005. After marrying, Murey, Doug and her son, Colby, moved to Birmingham and have made a home there ever since. Murey’s feisty, “tell it like it is'' personality will be missed far and wide. She was truly one of a kind!

Murey is survived by her husband of 16 years, Douglas Michael Robbins, son, Colby Scott Woodrum, parents, Barry and Cindy Wiseman, sisters, Lucile Ezell Anderson (Mike) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Emily Wiseman McSwain (Ben) of Shalimar, Florida, and her adored nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Virginius Land Arnold (Gin and Pete) and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Barnett Wiseman (Mel and Juanita).

The family will be holding a private memorial service for Murey at a later date. In lieu of flowers and to honor Murey’s love of books, the family asks donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library which gifts books to young children to inspire a love of reading.
