Elias “Louis” Ladas passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, with his family near him. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, raised in Kalamata, Greece during WWII, Louis next moved to Mobile, Alabama, where he resided for the last 71 years. Louis attended Springhill College and later graduated from the University of Alabama. Afterward, Louis finished pharmacy school at Samford University. He was the founder and owner of Ladas Pharmacy in Mobile. Louis served the Mobile community as a pharmacist for over 60 years. Louis lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed travel, ballroom dancing, and, especially, fishing on Dauphin Island. Louis was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Mobile, where he served on the church’s parish council as treasurer. He was a member of AHEPA, which he served as treasurer also. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Harilaos Ladas; his loving wife of 43 years, Polyxeni “Janie” Ladas; and his son, Dr. Harilaos Ladas. He is survived by his children, Mary Nikas (Dimitris), Harriet Simpsiridis (Vasilios), Cleopatra Bennette (Anthony), and Stavros Ladas (Stacey); grandchildren, Angela Nikas, Joanna Nikas, John Nikas, Sterling Rivers, Elizabeth Rivers, Alexandra Rivers, James Bennette, Louis Bennette, Harry Bennette, Elias Ladas, Harry Ladas, Jayne Isabelle Ladas, Helena Ladas, Michael Ladas, and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Mobile, Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 6:00-8:00 p.m., with Trisagion Service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. -May his Memory Be Eternal- In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Louis’ memory to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
