
Dr. Edward L. Bryant – died at home after a brief illness October 31, 2013. He was born May 14, 1932, in Lonoke, Arkansas to L.D. and Josephine Bryant. Dr. Bryant graduated from Lonoke High School and attended Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical College in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1960 and completed his residency in Anesthesiology in 1963. He began his practice in Mobile in 1963 and continued until his retirement in 1993.
Dr. Bryant was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Jacob’s Ladder Group. He was also a Past President of the Mobile Museum of Art and Past President of the Board of Mobile Opera.
Dr. Bryant is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne; his sons, Dr. James E. Bryant (Tara) of Birmingham, Alabama and Robert A. Bryant (Leigh) of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Nancy A. Cheatham (Ward) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Edward Bryant, Mary Paty Bryant, Julie Bryant, Peyton Thetford, Thomas Thetford, Keith Bryant, Allison Bryant, Bryant Cheatham, Carter Anne Cheatham, and Frances Cheatham; and his sister, Mary Jo Wicks.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 4, 2013, from the sanctuary of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 10 a.m.
