Dotty and John fell in love when they met at Sheffield High School in 1955, married on June 6, 1958 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. They moved to Mobile, Alabama on April 1, 1964. In 1972, they moved to Parkmont Circle, where "The Bottom of the Hill Gang" was formed.
Dotty started ABC Kindergarten, a Christian school, in 1975 and co-owned it until 2000. With her love for children, she had a passion for introducing them to the love of reading. ABC Kindergarten is still in existence today. Following her career with ABC, she spent 14 years volunteering with the Mobile Infirmary Gift Shop. Dotty and John joined Spring Hill Baptist Church in 1981. They enjoyed spending their days together on spur-of-the-moment road trips, and frequented many roadside produce stands in search of the best tomatoes and peaches. Dotty and John also enjoyed traveling together with their dear friends Tom and Libba Jones.
Her family extends their gratitude to all the kind and considerate staff at Mobile Infirmary Cancer Center, especially Dr. Yunus, Meredith, Lauren, Pam, Belinda, Brenda, and Erin.
Friends and family are invited to honor Dotty's legacy on Monday, February 13 at Spring Hill Baptist Church. Visitation is at 12:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 1:00 PM. A private gravesite ceremony will take place at Pine Crest Cemetery. Her pallbearers are Danny Reese, Teddy Erickson, Brett Erickson, John Moore, Preston Moore, Neil Reese, Braxton Reese, and Steve Vukmaravich.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to St. Jude's Hospital, Spring Hill Baptist Church Foundation, or the charity of your choice in her memory.
