She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday February 11, 2023 after a lengthy illness.
She graduated from Murphy High School in 1958 top of her class of the National Honor Society.
Dorothy worked for BLP Mobile Paint for 10 years. Then at Morrison Commercial Cafe offices where she retired.Then volunteer for 14 years with the Pink Ladies at Springhill Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy and her husband Buck were longtime members of the The Le Krewe de Bienville Mardi Gras society. On February 25, 1990 She was able to fulfilled a lifetime dream. She was honored to represent the society as Octavia Madame le Vert.
Dorothy was a longtime member at St. Mark's Methodist church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Llewellyn Buck Davis, both of her parents Eleana Mae Miller and Warren Hunter, 1 daughter Leah Broadus, 1 grandchild Jeremy Quinnelly.
Dorothy is survived by 3 sisters Sharon Tharpe Lindsay, (John), Marsha Nash, Marilyn and Allen Canterbury, 2 daughters Karen Stacey (Bart), Holly Sumerlin, 8 grandchildren, Paige Finley (Evan), Ashleigh Havard (Kevin), Krystal Marie
Begernan (Rowdy), Jordan Broadus (Rachel), Sara Broadus (Nelson), Hunter Schwetz (Kimberly), Kellie Sumerlin ( Jordan) 8 great grandchildren Keyleigh Finley, Collin Havard, Brantley Hayes, Kayda Finley, Micah Havard, Aspen Revells, Gabby Schwetz, Gracyn Shreves among many nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home 3155 Dauphin St. Mobile, Alabama 36606 from 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m on Wednesday February 15, 2023. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m in the chapel at Radney Funeral Home by graveside service at Pinecrest Cemetery 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway Mobile, Alabama 36605.
