David Lee Miller, Sr., a native of Chickasaw, Alabama, and a longtime resident of Semmes, Alabama died after a lengthy illness at Mobile Infirmary Hospital on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the age of 66. Mr. Miller was born January 11, 1951, in Chickasaw, Alabama to the late Willie Lee Miller and Mary Maxine Finney. He was married to his wife of 46 years Diane Watts Miller. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather, who always put his family first. Mr. Miller proudly served his country in the United States Army for over eight years in the states and overseas in Germany. He first operated as a Vulcan Crewmember and then as a Hercules Fire Control Crewmember in Air Defense Artillery. He was honorably discharged in 1976 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal Bronze with Two Loops, and Expert in Rifle. He then worked for the Mobile County Public School System as a Heating/Boiler Technician and retired after 33 years of service. He was a member of Crawford Baptist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed Alabama football, Nascar and playing with his grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Henry Bethea Watts; mother-in-law Kathern Ernestine Watts and brother-in-law, Donald Lampkin, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Diane Watts Miller of Semmes; two sons, David Lee Miller, Jr. (Tammy) of Semmes, Dewayne Allen Miller (Brandy) of Semmes; sister-in-laws; Fay Watts McKinion (Henry) of Wilmer, Julie Watts Lampkin of Semmes; one grandson, Easton Kurtis Miller; one niece, Maureen and two nephews; Mickey and Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. unto 12:00 p.m. at Crawford Baptist Church on Thursday, February 2, 2017 where the service is set at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, Spanish Fort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transplant Kids, 380 Sellers Road, Moselle, MS 39459 Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, Mobile, AL.
