David Leon “Big Mac” McKenzie, age 81, passed away June 16th, 2021 surrounded by his family. On May 8, 1960, he married the love of his life, Glenda Jane Brown, in Evergreen, Alabama and made Mobile his home. He was employed by Scott Paper Company for 36 years. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. He loved his family and spending time with them, enjoyed singing in the choir at Springhill Baptist Church, especially at Christmas. He was an avid fan of the Auburn Tigers, quick to tell a joke and always had a kind word and smile to offer. His gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Joseph and Para Lee House McKenzie; his siblings, James E. McKenzie, Voncile Ridgeway, Mary Morrison, Margaret Kitchens, Susie Cook, Dorothy McMillan and Jane Wissler.
Leon is survived by his loving and devoted wife Glenda Jane Brown McKenzie; a son, Duncan David McKenzie of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter and son - in – law, Dawn M. and Luis A. Ramirez of Ophelia, Virginia; his sister, Mabel Morgan of Semmes, Alabama, also survived by other relatives, family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Lester, MD, and his staff for the many years of care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2 South McGregor Avenue, Mobile, AL 36608. Memorial Service following at 1:00 p.m.

Graveside Service will be held for extended family at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.
