With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Darron Lamar Ikner, a cherished husband and father. Darron peacefully departed from this world on April 9, 2024, comforted by the presence of his family. He was born on July 27, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Alvin and Jeanette Ikner. Preceding him in death was his brother, James Ikner. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 56 years, Margaret Ikner, and his loving daughters, Ronda Ikner and Tonya Sciple, alongside his son-in-law, Steven Sciple, and numerous family members.
Darron was a proud graduate of Vigor High School, class of 1966. He dedicated much of his life to his professional endeavors, contributing his talents to Haas Davis Packing Company, Lykes Meat Group, Zeigler Meats, and Terminix. Yet, it was within the embrace of his faith and family that his true passions thrived. For years, he was an esteemed member of both Wilmer Baptist Church and Azalea City Church of Christ, where his steadfast dedication left an indelible mark.
Beyond his passion for the University of Alabama, he found joy in various sports, culinary pursuits, and extending kindness through food delivery. Along his path, Darron's unwavering dedication to his loved ones, his lighthearted humor, and his resolute faith remained steadfast. As we say goodbye to Darron, we cherish the memories of his love, compassion, and contributions to our lives. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit continues to reside eternally in the hearts of those he influenced.
Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Smith, Travis Smith, Cecil Smith, Harold Enke, James "Bubba" Galloway and David Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be Conrad Carpenter, Mike Eubanks and Johnny McDonald.
A celebration of Darron’s life and the love his family has for him is planned for April 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm, visitation will begin at 11:00 until the hour of service at the Azalea City Church of Christ, 3550 Schillinger Rd N, Semmes, AL 36575. Interment to follow at Wilmer Cemetery.
