Dallas Martin McElroy, 91, passed away on May 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Frances Carpenter McElroy, and his parents, Dallas and Leona McElroy. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Zieman; one son, Robert Dallas McElroy; a granddaughter, Emily (Michael) Walters; grandson, Ross Zieman; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Bradley.
Mr. McElroy was a patriot, his love of his country leading him into both WWII and Korea with the United States Army, for which he was decorated with many service medals and awards. Mr. McElroy was also an ornamental iron fabricator. He loved fishing and hunting, and he was very active with the PALS group in Baldwin County.
A Memorial Service for Mr. McElroy will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with an interment of ashes in Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery to follow at 11:00 a.m.
