Charles Wheeler Tucker

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 23, from 1:00 until 2:00 at Radney’s Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile, AL. A memorial service will immediately follow. Burial will follow on Saturday, November 26th at 10:00am at LaFayette Cemetery in LaFayette, AL. Arrangements are by Radney’s Funeral Home of Mobile, AL and Sanders Funeral Home of LaFayette, AL.

Charles was born in LaFayette, AL to Mary Pearl Sims Tucker and John Thomas Tucker on December 4, 1928. After graduation from LaFayette High School, he attended Auburn University for two years prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Helen Winslett on July 1, 1951. He was previously a deacon and Sunday School/Training Union Director at Springhill Baptist Church. He was employed with General Motors for many years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Pearl, and father, John Thomas.

He is survived by wife, Helen Tucker, daughters Pamela Frances Tucker Kirkland (Stanley H. Kirkland) and Barbara Carol Tucker Newman (Pat C. Newman), sisters Polly Ireland (Dr. Dan Ireland) and Dot Powers, grandchildren Dr. Brandon Kirkland, Haley Harbaugh (Daniel Harbaugh), Bethany Boggs (Derek Boggs), Whitney Law (Orrin Law), and Sarah Kirkland, and great grandchildren Libby Boggs, Lane Boggs, Corbin Law, and Tate Harbaugh.

The family wishes to extend our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Robert Israel, Dr. Noel Bedwell, and the staffs of Providence Hospital and Covenant Hospice for their loving care and support.
