Charles Howard Slaughter, 85, of Mobile entered into rest Sunday, October 4, 2015 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Spiller will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Mr. Slaughter was an avid Bridge player and was a Duplicate Bridge Gold Life Master. He loved watching college football but was partial to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Mr. Slaughter earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Alabama. He was a member of the original faculty at the University of South Alabama, and in 1975 he, and his brother, Wright, started their own business, Nudraulix. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wright Belt Slaughter, Sr. and Tyde Geneva Strickland Slaughter and a brother Wright B. Slaughter. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Steelman Slaughter, two children, Carolyn Slaughter (William C.) Pullen of Theodore and Robert J. (Darlene) Slaughter of Mobile, six grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Eggers, Jamie (Danny) Britt, Ansley Pullen, Hunter Minto, Mitchell Slaughter, and Noah Slaughter, five great-grandchildren, two caregivers, Jackie Bush and Toni Taylor, and numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
