He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Matilda "Til" Richey; daughter, Ruth Howard; granddaughter, Kristin Watts (Brandon); great-grandson, Braydin; great-grandson, Kyson; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Barlow; and brother, Robert Richey.
He graduated from Paseon High School in 1949 with many friends saying, he was fun loving and a good guy. He then followed in his Father's footsteps with the love for carpentry, remodeling, fishing, hunting and being an expert riflemen. He then served in the U.S. Naval Seabees, Naval Reserve and U.S. Coast Guard with a total of 26.5 years of service time and achieving the rank of CWO4. Military life caused him to be a stickler for doing things right. He always said, "Do it right the first time and there will not be a second!"
When his one and only granddaughter joined this world, he was the first one to show his daughter how to change her first diaper. From that moment on he had a great impact on her life. From taking her to endless activities, school, making picture frames, and watching her become a wonderful young lady and caring Mother.
He will be remembered as a man who loved football, baseball, the passion for ice cream (fudge ripple!), TV - with Westerns being his high light, crosswords, traveling and dancing with
the LOVE of his life.
He will be forever missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 6101 Grelot Road on August 7, 2018 beginning at 10:00 am with a Celebration of Life
starting at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church - Missions.
