Mr. Charles R. McDonald, age 96, native of Mobile, AL, passed away at his birth place and home on Monday, March 21, 2016. Mr. McDonald served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Auburn University and the top 1% of his class as a Master Engineer. He was very involved in his community and was a strong advocate in trying to re-open Brookley Field and the rebuilding of the downtown Mobile community. Mr. McDonald was a wealth of knowledge. He was a member of the Mensa Organization, the largest and oldest high IQ organization in the world. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. McDonald was a proud donor to the University of South Alabama’s research department. A memorial visitation and service will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Monday, March 28, 2016 beginning at 12 Noon. Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, Mobile, AL.
