Billy Carl Owen, age 93, a native of Greenville, and resident of Mobile, Alabama, since 1947, died peacefully on April 9, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Faye Owen, his parents Era and Powell Owen and his brother Edris Owen. He is survived by his son Billy Carl Owen, Jr., daughter-in-law Laura Pancoast, and two beloved grandchildren, Shelby and Preston Owen. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joan and Claude Collier as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Billy was a proud WWII veteran of the 83rd Infantry, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and landed on Normandy Beach earning the Bronze Star for his service. He was one of the founding members of the Mobile County Road Builders Association and was responsible for the construction of many roads and bridges throughout Alabama and Mississippi. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and Le Krewe De Bienville Mardi Gras association. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. There will be a visitation from 6-8pm at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile on Tuesday with a family graveside service at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, Ramer, AL on Wednesday.
