Billy Ireland Jackson, Sr. 91 was born July 17, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Clarence Wesley and Bertha Gladys Andrews Jackson. Called to his Heavenly home, Mr. Jackson passed on January 13, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama. Mr. Jackson was a long time member of First Baptist Church Satsuma where he served as an usher for many years. He served this grateful nation by enlisting in the United States ARMY and serving during the Korean War. Employed with Courtaulds for over thirty years, Mr. Jackson was a dedicated millwright. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering around, enjoyed watching the Braves and was an avid Alabama football fan. Mr. Jackson always cherished spending time with his family and never took for granted those special moments.
Mr. Jackson was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife of sixty plus years, Ruby Claire Sanford Jackson; one brother, Eugene Jackson; one grandson, Danny Ray Burnette, II; and two son’s-in-law: Joe Graham, and Danny Burnette.
Left to cherish Billy’s memories will be his three children: Cynthia “Cindy” Graham; Claire Denise Burnette; Billy Ireland Jackson, Jr. and wife Rachel; six grandchildren: Lee Graham and wife Jami, Jay Graham and wife Caroline, April Denise Burnette and husband Heath, Michael Burnette and wife Mandy, Marcus Jackson, Mackenzie Jackson; ten great-grandchildren: Lee Graham, Emmie Graham, Will Graham, Allison Graham, Jack Graham, Joseph Graham, Mattie Claire Burnette, Anna Marie Fuller, Wyatt Fuller, Noah Burnette, Elijah Burnette; two sisters'-in-law: Frances Sanford, Genene Jackson; along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Dauphin Way Assisted Living, the staff of Amedisys Hospice Group, for the professional care and compassion provided over the years. We would like to thank our friends, family and our church families for the prayers, condolences and love expressed during such a difficult time.
A visitation for Billy will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Forest Lawn Memorial Garden, Saraland, Alabama.
